On Saturday, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals granted Adnan Syed, the subject of the popular podcast Serial, leave to re-appeal his conviction for the 1999 murder of Hae Min Lee. “It’s the first step in a pretty long process, but we’re happy,” Syed’s lawyer C. Justin Brown told a reporter from the Baltimore Sun.
