Marc Owen Jones is an associate professor of Middle East Studies at Hamad bin Khalifa University, and expert on digital authoritarianism and social media disinformation. He is the author of numerous books on the Middle East and digital technology, including ‘Political Repression in Bahrain’ published by Cambridge University Press and ‘Digital Authoritarianism in the Middle East’ published by Oxford University Press. Dr. Jones’ research has been featured in a number of international outlets, including the New York Times, BBC, Bloomberg, Time magazine, New Statesman, The Washington Post and The Independent.
