Brought on by President Obama to help transition between administrations amidst two wars, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has decided to stay at least another year. His spokesman told the AP that Gates and Obama had "agreed to revisit this issue again later this year," but that there's no plan for when he might leave. Gates served in the same position under President Bush, where he helped implement the "surge" in Iraq, and is now overseeing a major increase in troops in Afghanistan as well.
