The Giants had another Miracle Year. San Francisco captured the World Series crown Monday night in only five games, shutting down the Texas Rangers 3-1. Monday night’s pitching duel pitted Rangers star Cliff Lee against Giants ace Tim Lincecum, with six shutout innings before San Francisco pulled ahead with a 3-0 home run by Edgar Renteria. The Rangers never recovered. They came back and scored one run at the bottom of the seventh—a homer by Nelson Cruz—but they couldn’t rally any more after that. The Giants’ win is their first in San Francisco—the last time the team won the World Series was in 1954, when they still played in New York.
