Retired General Stanley McChrystal has his next act planned out: memoirist. The former commander in Afghanistan, who was forced out in June, will pen a memoir about not only his recent controversy, but his whole career and the changes in the military since he was at West Point in the 1970s. “I like to be thought of as absolutely honest,” McChrystal said. He also said he wanted to write a book that had “long-term” historical value. McChrystal was fired by President Obama after the four-star general opened up to Rolling Stone magazine about the administration and diplomatic officials. While McChrystal said he does not “get up in the morning regretting things” he has done, and the book will not be full of what-ifs. The memoir is scheduled to be released in 2012.
