After house Speaker John Boehner pulled out of debt-ceiling negotiations, President Obama called an emergency meeting at the White House Saturday. “A deal was never reached and was never really close,” Boehner wrote Friday in a letter to the House Republicans. “I have decided to end discussions with the White House and begin conversations with leaders of the Senate.” Obama took to his bully pulpit shortly after, blasting Boehner for walking away from "an extraordinarily fair deal" and claiming he was "left at the altar."
