Oh dear. Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen threw in an off-hand comment about interracial marriage in his Tuesday column, causing an Internet storm. When writing about how Chris Christie won't be able to overcome the Tea Party (an argument that's kind of stretch anyway), Cohen writes "people with conventional views must repress a gag reflex when considering the mayor-elect of New York--a white man married to a black woman with two biracial children. (Should I mention that Bill de Blasio's wife, Chirlane McCray, used to be a lesbian?)" Obviously, the Internet was outraged, with Gawker calling his column "insane," Slate predicting this could finally cost Cohen his job.
