A new Gallup survey found that cities with the highest concentrations of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender residents lie on the West Coast—and that the Big Apple doesn’t even crack the top 15, with only 4 percent of residents identifying as LGBT. San Francisco, where 6.2 percent of residents identify as LGBT, came in first. Mormon stronghold Salt Lake City was seventh at 4.7 percent. The metropolitan area with the lowest concentration of LGBT residents was Birmingham, Alabama, where only 2.6 percent identified themselves as queer.
