On Monday, a judge ruled that Craig Hicks, the man who shot and killed three college Muslim students after a dispute over a parking spot at their apartment complex, is eligible to face the death penalty. According to testimony, Hicks shot Deah Shaddy Barakat before shooting his wife and her sister in the head, then shooting Barakat a final time. Prosecutor Jim Dornfried deemed this evidence “sufficient to proceed with each of these murders as a capital case,” and the judge agreed.
