True-crime author Ann Rule, most remembered for her profile of her former coworker and serial killer Ted Bundy, died at age 83 in Seattle. The famed author died at Highline Medical Center on Sunday, according to CHI Franciscan Health spokesman Scott Thompson. Rule's daughter Leslie Rule confirmed the death in a Facebook post, noting that her mother had health issues including congestive heart failure. Rule, who wrote more than 30 books, rose to fame for her Bundy profile, "The Stranger Beside Me." Rule shared a late shift at the Seattle suicide hotline and said she had a contract to write about a serial killer before her coworker was identified. She was a mother of five children as well as a grandmother to five.
