The WDBJ7 reporter and cameraman shot and killed in Virginia early Wednesday morning were both engaged, according to news reports. The CBS News crew was filming an interview in Moneta, Virginia, when the TV broadcast was interrupted by the sound of gunfire. The reporter, Alison Parker, and cameraman, Adam Ward, died in the shooting, according to Parker’s mother, who spoke to CBS News. Police are hunting for the shooter, who was captured on the video and is a white man dressed all in black. Schools in the area are sheltered in place after the shooting.
In graphic news station footage of the moments leading up to the attack, Parker is seen interviewing a woman about drawing tourism to a neighborhood. Shots erupt suddenly, and Parker is heard screaming before the shot cuts away to the bewildered anchor. Warning: The video below is disturbingly graphic.
