The Republican Party of Iowa’s website reportedly exposed the personal information and voter records of 2 million Iowans, according to The Wall Street Journal. The database included information on Democrats, Republicans, and independents registered to vote in the first-in-the-nation caucus state. Usually such a database is available for purchase from the Iowa Secretary of State. Buyers must promise to use the records—which state if a person has voted, but not for whom he or she has voted—for political purposes only.
