The Justice Department unsealed an indictment charging that seven Iranian computer specialists were responsible for cyberattacks on U.S. banks and the controls of a dam in New York’s Westchester County. The specialists regularly worked for the country’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, according to The New York Times. The indictment refers to the suspects as “experienced computer hackers” who frequently “performed work on behalf of the Iranian government,” but it does not say that the attacks were carried out under orders by the Revolutionary Guards.
