Iran announced Tuesday that it would not give visas to three Republican congressmen who opposed the nuclear deal recently reached with the Obama administration. The deal saw the White House lift devastating sanctions that had been in place against Iran for 37 years. In exchange, Iran agreed to limit its ability to enrich uranium. Republican congressmen Frank LoBiondo of New Jersey, Mike Pompeo of Kansas, and Lee Zeldin of New York all vehemently opposed the deal and have been vocal in their criticism of it. In February, they asked to visit the country to monitor compliance with the accord and observe elections. But on Tuesday, they got a rejection and a scolding from Iran’s foreign ministry, which slammed the congressmen for “the completely inappropriate way” they “demanded to visit Iran and interfere.”
