Charlie Hebdo, the French satirical weekly that had its offices attacked by Islamic terrorists in January 2015, will begin printing a German-language edition on December 1. Though the new edition will print mostly the same content as its French counterpart, German satirists will also work with the existing team to create exclusive content for their audience. About 200,000 copies of the first edition will be printed. Journalists at the weekly said the expansion was decided after the special edition following the terrorist attack—which killed 12 members of its staff—sold more than 70,000 copies in the neighboring country.
