Bannon Movie Outline Warns of ‘Islamic States of America’
FEAR AND PANIC
On Friday, The Washington Post published excerpts from presidential adviser Stephen Bannon’s decade-old, eight-page outline for a “documentary-style movie” that warned about how Muslim extremists could turn America into the “Islamic States of America.”
“Instead of the stars and stripes—the crescent and the star!!!” the prologue reads.
The film proposal also blasts “enablers” of this supposed threat, such as The Washington Post itself, NPR, “Universities and the Left,” the ACLU, the CIA, the State Department, and the “American Jewish Community.”
The typo-spotted draft, titled “Destroying the Great Satan: The Rise of Islamic Facism [sic] in America,” lists Bannon (now Donald Trump’s White House chief strategist with a role on the National Security Council) as director, and as co-writer along with his longtime former Hollywood writing partner Julia Jones. The two of them worked closely together for 18 years, and produced many scripts and movie and TV proposals together, including a Ronald Reagan movie, and more lighthearted fare such as a Shakespearean hip-hop musical about the Los Angeles riots and an adaptation of Titus Andronicus set “on the moon with creatures from outer space.”
