The California bridge that collapsed onto Interstate 10 amid heavy rains over the weekend passed inspection and received an “A” rating last year, The Desert Sun reported Monday. The eastbound portion of the Tex Wash Bridge, which was swept away in flooding, earned 91.5 out of 100 inspection points, Federal Highway Administration records show. The bridge also received one of the highest possible flood-safety ratings, which means it should have been able to withstand the more than 5 inches of rain that fell Sunday. Officials said they were investigating why the bridge scored such a high rating.
