‘God Particle’ Announcement Leaked

After hinting last week that they’d found the footprint of the Higgs boson “God particle,” researchers at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) accidentally leaked an announcement about the particle’s discovery on Tuesday—a day before they were expected to present findings. A video of CERN spokesman Joe Incandela was posted to the CERN website Tuesday and then promptly removed, but not promptly enough. The Telegraph scooped the video, in which Incandela says they’ve “observed a new particle” that “could be a gateway, if you like, to the next phase of exploring the deepest fabric of the universe.” CERN told The Telegraph that the video was only one among several that are going to be presented Wednesday.
