President Trump has reportedly taken to trash-talking his attorney general with embattled Environmental Protection Agency administrator Scott Pruitt. Sources cited by The New York Times on Sunday say Trump has brushed off concerns by aides who have urged him to fire Pruitt over mounting scrutiny of his misuse of authority and lavish spending habits. Even as Pruitt reportedly faces an ethics probe, the president on Friday appeared to dismiss concerns about Pruitt even from his own aides, describing him instead as an EPA head who is “doing a great job” but “being attacked very viciously by the press.” In private, Trump has reportedly taken to confiding in Pruitt, at times complaining to him about Attorney General Jeff Sessions, according to the report.
