
Let's revise the assessment below. Romney has collected more than 1/3 the delegates he needs. Nobody else has shown the strength to stop him. Gingrich won Georgia, but was not even second anywhere else. Rick Santorum remains profoundly unacceptable to the upper-income voters and big-dollar donors who wield such weight inside GOP. The Romney campaign trundles onward, Santorum and Gingrich have no path, and Paul remains a boutique candidate.
That said, the resistance to Romney does not know it is futile, and every hour of this campaign is shaping and branding the likely ultimate winner in ways that make the next contest only that much harder.
