Taylor Swift Defeats Apple

Apple has agreed to pay royalties to artists during a free trial period for its new music streaming service, after Taylor Swift called out the company Sunday and threatened to pull her album 1989. Apple’s Eddy Cue, a lieutenant to CEO Tim Cook, responded to Swift in an announcement that the company would change its policy to pay artists during the three-month free trial period. “We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple,” he posted. Swift quickly responded, “I am elated and relieved,” she tweeted. “Thank you for your words of support today. They listened to us.”
