Donald Trump criticized the U.S. policy of war games with South Korea, saying he would end the “expensive” operations in the wake of his summit with Kim Jong Un. Trump failed to reach a meaningful agreement with North Korea on denuclearization but he said he was confident that Kim would follow through on his promises. As an act of goodwill, the U.S. will end joint military exercises with South Korea as long as the talks progress well. “Under the circumstances that we’re negotiating a very comprehensive complete deal, I think it’s inappropriate to have war games... It is something that [North Korea] very much appreciated,” Trump said a post-summit news conference in Singapore.
