Bannon: Trump’s Call for a Path to Citizenship is ‘Betrayal’

While watching State of the Union, Bannon reportedly said immigration section was ‘terrible.’

President Trump’s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, was reportedly appalled by his ex-boss’s conciliatory words during the State of the Union on a path to citizenship for undocumented families. Bloomberg News columnist Michael Lewis reported that he watched the speech with Bannon, who described the passage on immigration reform as “terrible” and “a betrayal.” According to Lewis, Bannon’s face flushed upon reading Trump’s prepared remarks on the policy. When Bannon saw Melania Trump emerge on-screen wearing white, he reportedly said, “She’s wearing suffragette white. Suck on that.” Lewis also recounts Bannon getting excited when Trump mentioned “clean coal” in his speech. “I love it,” Bannon said. “He’s trolling! He’s trolling from the podium.”
