Has the great cabinet tax scandal of 2009 finally passed? Apparently so, as Labor secretary nominee Rep. Hilda Solis was approved Wednesday by the Senate committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions after weeks of delays over her husband's outstanding tax liens, which totaled about $6,400. Solis is only the latest cabinet nominee to run into tax trouble -- messy tax filings nearly derailed Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner's confirmation and forced Tom Daschle to end his bid for secretary of Health and Human Services.
