The Greek marbles in the Temple of Dendur weren’t the only muses at the Met last night. Statuesque models and celebs packed the building for the Costume Institute Gala, hosted by Anna Wintour, Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss, and Justin Timberlake, and celebrating the exhibition “Model as Muse.” A few guests—like Heidi Klum in J. Mendel—went long and flowy, but many favored dresses that were short—and gold. Kate Moss channeled Cleopatra in one of Jacobs’ mini lamé designs, topped off with a matching head band, and Bar Rafaeli stunned in a metallic Marchesa number. Helena Christensen wore a glittering Zac Posen dress, with the word “Vogue” spilling down the front. “It’s so I can remember whose party I’m at,” she said. And despite the tight security, someone even tried to crash: Russell Simmons, hip hop entrepreneur and man-about-town, arrived without an invitation and was let inside for cocktails. “I was just arriving and my secretary had forgotten to R.S.V.P,” he said, but later promised to send a check. We'll believe it when we see it!
