Kate Norley and The Daily Show’s John Oliver Engaged

After the Rick Sanchez rant, The Daily Show is getting some love—or at least the show’s correspondent John Oliver is. The 33-year-old comedian just revealed to People magazine that he proposed to his girlfriend of two years, Kate Norley, in July while vacationing in St. Thomas. The couple met in 2008 at the Republican National Convention, awhich Norley was campaigning at while Oliver was covering. They were friends first until Norley, an Iraq War vet, “finally made a move,” she told People on Saturday. Oliver admitted, “I got seduced.” Now that the former Army medic is no longer on active duty, she said, “It’s nice that I get to spend time with the love of my life.” Oliver joked, “It’s the most emasculating thing I could possibly do to go out with someone who has actually done something valuable with their life.” The two plan to wed next year.
