The number of federal workers earning $150,000 is ten times what it was five years ago—and has doubled during the Obama administration alone, USA Today reports. The group now makes up 3.9 percent of the workforce, up from 0.4 percent in 2005. Republicans in the House are now trying to block the president’s plan to raise pay by 1.4 percent. Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), is even suggesting a 10 percent cut in federal pay. “It's stunning when you see what's happened to federal compensation," he says. USA Today reports that the largest pay increases went to employees who have worked for 15 to 24 years in the government.
