Julian Assange came close to being a free man. The WikiLeaks founder was granted bail in the U.K. on Tuesday, but Swedish prosecutors then contested the decision, keeping Assange in custody until Britain's high court can hear the appeal. Filmmaker Ken Loach, socialite Jemima Khan, and Michael Moore have volunteered to help pay his bail, and Tariq Ali, John Pilger, and Loach attended the hearing, but it seems Sarah Saunders, a restaurant designer and friend of Assange, signed documents promising £150,000 ($236,870) as surety.
