He is looking to run his reelection campaign out of Chicago—making him the first modern president to ditch Washington D.C. as its headquarters, according to Politico. David Axelrod will head up the effort after taking a few weeks off upon leaving the White House on February 1. Obama’s hoping to get an early start on fundraising and to have an arm that can fire back at GOP attacks without distracting from White House duty. Another hope is that by moving to Chicago they’ll minimize press leaks.
