Fox’s hit musical comedy Glee features characters from every walk of life, and now they’re taking on uncharted territory: the Tea Party. Glee producers put out a casting call Friday for two new roles, including a middle-aged character named Tammy Jean, described as “a recent Tea Party candidate and home schooler—a real Sarah Palin type,” Movieline exclusively revealed. Glee creator Ryan Murphy said, “We’ve taken a couple of jabs at the right wing this year, so what I want to do with this character is have someone who Christian kids and parents can recognize and say, ‘Oh look—I’m represented there too!’” The other new character they’re casting is Sister Mary Constance, a middle-aged African-American exotic dancer-turned-nun.
