Though New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez has been on the team’s disabled list for meniscus surgery, he may soon have a bigger problem on his hands. Major League Baseball is reportedly investigating allegations that A-Rod participated in illegal poker games. "We take this very seriously and have been investigating this matter since the initial allegation," it said in a statement. Star magazine first broke the story, claiming that he took part in at least two games at a Beverly Hills mansion where “cocaine was openly used” and a fight erupted—at which point Rodriguez “tried to distance himself from the game.” A-Rod came under fire with baseball for gambling back in 2005, after which he admitted, “It wasn’t the right thing to do,” but made up for it by hosting a charity poker tournament in 2006.
