The historic Hurricane Irene is moving slowly up the shoreline of New Jersey and into New York City and Long Island, but not before it made a second landfall at around 5:30 a.m. Sunday near Little Egg Inlet, N.J., packing maximum winds estimated at 75 mph. The storm remains a Category 1 hurricane, and wind ground speed is not too high along the Jersey Shore, estimated at 18 mph, with wind gusts up to 45 mph. The storm is dumping about five inches of rain along and ahead of its path, causing flooding in Long Island and other parts of the East Coast. Track the storm here.
