An Australian jet fighter has made the country’s first airstrike against an ISIS target in Iraq, following Canberra’s decision to commit its air force to combat missions. The F-18 Super Hornet fighter jet dropped two bombs on a facility operated by ISIS militants. Authorities did not say what type of facility had been attacked or where in northern Iraq it was. The country has six fighter jets based in the United Arab Emirates. In addition to the airstrikes, which have been approved only for Iraq and not Syria, Australia also plans to deploy about 200 special-forces personnel to train and advise the Iraqi military.
