A wildlife charity has rescued a baby elephant facing starvation after poachers killed her mother for her ivory tusks. The ten-month-old female calf Roi was spotted by her mother’s body by people photographing the animals. She had been rejected by other adult females in the herd for feeding, and thus faced starvation. She is now safely in a nursery in Nairobi that also houses 30 other victims of poaching and human wildlife conflict.
