Just before celebrating Christmas Eve Mass Wednesday at St. Peter's Basilica, Pope Francis made a call to Iraqi refugees forced to flee their homes by Muslim militants. The Holy See told the refugees at a tent camp near Irbil that they were like Jesus, forced to flee because there was no room for them. "I embrace you all and wish for you a holy Christmas," he told them in a satellite phone call that was broadcast on Italian TV. The Ankawa tent camp in northern Iraq is home to mostly Christian refugees, who have fled Kurdish controlled areas because of advances by the Islamic State.
