Officials said more than 2,000 migrants from Myanmar and Bangladesh were rescued in six boats discovered off Indonesia’s far west coast on Sunday and Monday, including more than 1,000 who were left by traffickers in shallow waters off the Malaysian resort island of Langkawi. The migrants are believed to be Rohingya Muslims, a group that is persecuted in Myanmar. Early Monday, a boat with more than 400 migrants was found off Aceh in northwest Indonesia, just one day after two boats carrying 600 people arrived in the same region.
