Officials say the United States and Turkey have come up with a plan to expell ISIS militants from a 60-mile stretch along the Syrian-Turkish border. The resulting area would be an ISIS "safe zone" run by what The New York Times calls "relatively moderate Syrian insurgents," and a refuge for displaced Syrians fleeing the terrorist group. U.S. warplanes and Turkish troops would help clear the ground and create a no-fly zone. Turkish outlets say the zone might go as far as 25 miles into Syria, but the Times reports that only 60 rebels are available to take the ground.
