YMCA Abolishes ‘Slave Re-Enactments’

A YMCA in Detroit has been forced to cease an educational activity it used to host called “Underground Railroad,” which involved an extensive slavery reenactment with children. According to several black parents, kids were made to act like slaves on an auction block while teachers and camp instructors, acting as slave masters, chased them around on horseback. After the ACLU of Michigan heard the complaint, they demanded the YMCA end the long-running program.
