On Friday morning, Donald Trump appeared to back away from his proposed temporary ban on all Muslims entering the U.S., saying “everything is a suggestion” and he remains “flexible” on the issue. This apparent change in policy led CNN’s Wolf Blitzer to confront the candidate’s spokesperson Katrina Pierson Friday afternoon, asking, “Is he now moving away from the right, shall we say, towards the center as he worries about a general election?”
“Not at all,” Pierson replied. “What Mr. Trump is saying is that yes, all of his policies are suggestions like any other candidate. We all recall that time when if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. Guess what? That actually didn’t say the policy.”
Pierson was referring to a promise from President Obama about his Affordable Care Act that Politifact deemed the “Lie of the Year” in 2013. “Mr. Trump was just being very honest with voters,” she added.
