Phillip Garrido, the man suspected of kidnapping Jaycee Lee Dugard, was declared mentally competent on Thursday to stand trial. Dugard was found in 2009 at the age of 29, and Garrido and his wife, Nancy, have been accused of holding her captive since 1991 when Dugard was 11 years old. Nancy Garrido pleaded not guilty last year to charges in connection to the case, while her husband’s case has been held up due to questions of mental competency. Phillip Garrido is due back in court February 28 when he will be arraigned by a grand jury.
