NATO Repels Attack on Afghan Base

NATO says it successfully fended off an attack from Taliban fighters on a coalition base in Paktika province, near the Pakistan border. At least 30 Taliban fighters were reported killed, with five coalition soldiers wounded in the exchange. Militants reportedly assaulted the outpost from all directions, using rifles and rocket-propelled grenades. The attack occurred along the troubled border region, where insurgents often cross into Afghanistan from Pakistan to launch raids on small, remote military outposts.
