The undocumented 17-year-old girl under federal custody in Texas who had, weeks ago, requested an abortion was finally able to get the procedure on Wednesday morning, the ACLU announced. Lawyers for the civil-liberties organization fought the Trump administration for weeks over allowing her to have an abortion. The federal government claimed that it was not required to allow her to terminate the pregnancy while she was in federal custody, while the ACLU argued that the government was forcing her to continue the pregnancy against her will.
