At least 86 people were killed and over 300 were injured Monday when car and roadside bombs exploded in more than a dozen Iraqi cities in one of the deadliest days this year. In addition, at least one suicide bomber attacked a police station. The violence was worst in Kut, where two bombs killed at least 37 people. In Diyala province, seven bombs went off, while Baghdad also saw a car-bomb explosion that injured eight people. Iraqi political leaders earlier this month began debating whether to allow a small U.S. force to remain in the country after Dec. 31.
