Afghan officials are preparing to reveal a massive amount of corruption in their most recent parliamentarian elections—and up to 1 million votes will be discounted. “You can do a lot of mischief in three days, “ said a Western observer knowledgeable about the election process. Indeed, about 25 percent of the votes are predicted to be invalid. Some citizens were forced at gunpoint by insurgents to vote a certain way; ballot boxes were stuffed; and corrupt election officials were in cahoots with candidates. About 89 percent of total votes have been checked for fraud so far.
