Former deputy prime minister John Prescott called for an official inquiry after a report on Tuesday that 30 unpaid jubilee workers were forced to sleep under the London Bridge during Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Prescott wrote a letter to Home Secretary Theresa May to investigate the claims that security firm Close Protection UK had broken its industry’s standards, and he is calling for the government to review the company's contract for the Olympics. CPUK issued a “sincere apology” on Tuesday for the “London Bridge incident,” but insisted they were not exploiting anyone and were instead providing work experience. Thousands attended the five-day jubilee, which included a pop concert on Monday and a four-hour boat ride through London.
