The First Family welcomed the first family of jazz-along with 150 youngmusic students-to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on Monday, temporarilytransforming the White House into the Marsalis Music School. WithMichelle acting as hostess for the event--the first in a series of threeplanned music education sessions at the presidential mansion--guestinstructors Brothers Wynton, Branford, Delfeayo, and Jason Marsalisshared their expertise on trumpet, saxophone, trombone and drums,respectively. Piano-playing Marsalis patriarch, Ellis Marsalis, was saidto be on hand as well. Other faculty included trumpeter Sean Jones,saxophonist/clarinetist Todd Williams and singer-pianist Eli Yamin, allfrom Wynton Marsalis' musical circle.
