Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair was unrepentant on Friday while defending the Iraq war before a British panel investigating the war. Before September 11, Blair said he thought "Saddam was a menace, that he was a threat, he was a monster, but we would have to try and make the best of it." After the attacks, “my view was you could not take risks with this issue at all.” During his six-hour testimony, Blair denied having ever made any private deals with President Bush before the invasion of Iraq.
