Ticketholders for Wednesday night’s Colbert Report got a surprise: an email informing them that the show had been canceled for “unforeseen reasons.” Colbert’s website has slated reruns for the rest of the week, but offered no explanation. Last-minute cancellations are extremely rare for Comedy Central’s fake news shows; The Daily Show has been canceled only twice, usually for staffers’ personal reasons. The Colbert Report has never missed a scheduled episode.
