An effort to draft Sen. Elizabeth Warren as a more liberal alternative to Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race has disbanded, organizers said Tuesday. Leaders of the six-month effort by Democracy for America and MoveOn.org became increasingly convinced the Massachusetts Democrat would not run, despite spending $1.25 million and opening three offices. Kurt Ehrenberg, the group’s New Hampshire director, left last week to join the Bernie Sanders campaign. “We’ve pretty much done everything we could to encourage her to run and to build the grassroots infrastructure that would help her win if she wanted to run,” said DFA spokesman Neil Sroka. “We’ve opened up a really big space for her in the primary should she decide to run.”
