An ISIS operative interrogated by the U.S. gave intelligence that led to airstrikes on at least two chemical-weapons facilities operated by the self-declared Islamic State, defense officials told The Daily Beast. The Iraqi man has been detained for about a month, giving the U.S. the most in-depth understanding of the terror group’s chemical attack abilities to date. “They have gotten a lot of information from this guy,” one official said. “A lot.” The Associated Press called the strikes the “first known major success” of the Pentagon’s newly aggressive air campaign against ISIS. Officials would not elaborate on the Iraqi man’s role in ISIS or how much he knows of an ISIS chemical-weapons program. It’s not clear where he was captured in Iraq, nor has he been identified.
